broadside: quotes

This was our first creative workshop with a big group. We hand inked and printed the large type the night before. The next day we offered a type composition workshop to 16 students and faculty from the design program at the Delaware College of Art & Design in Wilmington, Delaware. They supplied us with two quotes and we broke them into 17 lines. Each student set a line of text using different sizes of Melior from the Lead Graffiti metal type collection.

These were locked into a form and each of the students handcranked three copies on our Vandercook SP-15.

The next day we set the block of names for the colophon in the lower right of the broadside and added this to the piece. We gave it a day to dry and drove over to DCAD and delivered the final piece to the student printers.

Inks: handrolled in four colors; two black runs

Edition: 50 copies
